Roger Withers (Founder & CEO of ATRW) organised the first ever Amputee Ride Day back in 2018, with seven (7) amputees booked in for the day: including above knee, below knee and below elbow transradial participants.
The event was held at, and supported by, www.greenvalleysmountainbikepark.com, Set in the picturesque foothills of Macquarie Pass National Park, Greenvalleys is a private boutique Mountain Bike Park that offers riders a number of ways to access their trails.
Amputee Ride Day was also sponsored by Specialized Bicycles USA & Australia, who provided their fleet of Specialized Turbo Levo electric-assist mountain bikes. www.specialized.com
Special guests - Patrick Callaghan from www.camdencycles.com.au, Peter Clayton from www.cyclerynorthside.com.au, Jeff Moore and Dan Purkis from Specialized Bicycles Australia helped fit riders to their own individual bikes, and helped set the bike up ready for each person to ride. The day was a huge success! All involved had a lot of fun and left with great experiences, lasting memories and big smiles.
